Well after two years of doing everything right (masking when out, social distancing, practicing hand hygiene, being triple vaccinated, and staying away from crowded places as much as possible), I got the ‘rona. Most likely I had the omicron variant. It hit hard and fast, I went to bed on a Thursday night and woke up Friday morning feeling like crap. I immediately got up and took an at home covid test and it came up positive. I was not surprised, as a family member was also positive. The symptoms I had were a sore throat, congestion, sinus drainage, fatigue, sinus pressure, and facial pain (it did aggravate my TN). I did a lot of gargling with salt water to help soothe my sore throat. It helped a lot. I also took some over the counter cold medicines to help the other symptoms. For me, the first couple of days were the worst and I started to turn the corner on day 4. I’m just going to come out and say it, covid is miserable. Luckily It only lasted about five days.
I really think had I not been triple vaccinated my case would have been much worse than it was. I felt like shit for five days, but overall I know it could’ve been a lot worse. My symptoms were mild compared to a lot of people I know. This is a testament to the vaccines. Please get vaccinated if you aren’t already. Get boosted if you aren’t already. Wear a mask (preferably an N95 or KN95) if you don’t do so now. Practice the other mitigation strategies as well. Covid isn’t something to mess with.
If you don’t have any at home tests, please visit http://covidtests.gov . They will send you four free tests. Get them before you need them, as they take 7-12 days to get to you.
